Questions about our fishing vacations are always welcome. Here are some of the common ones we receive:

A. Yes. A passport is required to enter Canada by car, sea or air. You can get your passport application by going to: www.travel.state.gov or visit your local Post Office for more information.
Q. How do I pay the balance of my trip?
A. Your balance is due upon arrival, payable by cash, traveler’s check, money order, certified check or Visa, MasterCard and Discover Credit Cards.

Q. How do I purchase my Fishing License?
A. All licenses should be purchased at huntandfishontario.com Prior to arrival.
Q. Do I need a trolling motor?
A. We have trolling motors for rent. We also use 15 hp outboards that troll very well. If you would like to bring your trolling motor you can.
Q. Do I need a fish finder?
A. A fish finder will come in handy to help locate the structure and depth of the lake and improve your success.
Q. What is included with the boat?
A. The boat is equipped with all of your gas, 15hp. Outboard, two swivel seats front and back, landing net, minnow bucket, safety kit and live well if you bring your own 12 volt battery.
Q. What kind of lures do I need?
A. This is a good question!

  • For Walleye Fishing we use a lot of 1/8 oz. bright color lead jigs tipped with either a minnow or worm. Little Joe’s or Colorado Rigs which is a spinner blade with beads and hook tipped with a worm or minnow. My favorite is a bright floating jig weighted with a ¼ oz slip sinker and tipped with a worm or minnow.
  • For Northern Pike Fishing there are three methods that work well. A large bobber with steel leader and hook in the shallow waters. Artificial lures with bright colors such as 3”spoons and 5”stick baits. Trolling lures tipped with large minnows also work well.
Q. What are the cabins like?
A. The cabins are equipped with hot and cold water, all of your linens, bathroom, microwave, coffee maker, pots, pans and dishes. What you do need to bring is towels, food, fishing gear and life jacket.
Q. Do you have Barbecue Grills?
A. Yes. We have gas grills available on our sun decks.
Q. Do I need waders?
A. It is a good idea to bring waders if you are going to venture out to the remote lakes.
Q. How do I bring my fish limit back?
A. We have a fish cleaning building to prepare your fish. We recommend a vacuum sealer to package your fish. We have a freezer building to freeze your fish for your trip home.
Q. Do I need to bring a life jacket?
A. Yes. You will need a Class 1, 2 or 3 Coast Guard or Dept. of Transportation approved life preserver, one per boat occupant.
Q. When is ice out?
A. Ice will usually be off the lake by May 12th. However, this can change due to weather.
Q. Do I need a guide?
A. No. We are there 24/7 with maps and suggestions on where to fish and what to use.
