Spring is Here

March 19th, 2010 by admin

Dear Fishing and Hunting Friends,
It has been another long winter.  We have all been bundled up, shoveled snow, and have been feeding our furnaces with either oil, wood, or wood pellets just to keep warm through the winter.  Well, good news is here.  The snow is melting and the rivers are breaking up.  This is the time I spend getting all of our fishing reels oiled up, and string new line on all of my poles to get ready for the up coming fishing season. At Flint wilderness Resort we are going to open our Walleye season May 15,2010.  This is a great time of the year for us when old guest from the past, and new friends join us for the annual walleye spawn. This is an excellent time of the year to catch a lot of walleye. We sure would like to see you join us.

    Bert and Hank,
When was ice out, when did the walleye quit spawning, and has the pike started to spawn yet? Are the bugs out already? And last where is the water level at, I hoping the rain you guys are getting will get a good flow going in the rivers. We can’t wait to get there, hope all is well with you and yours.
See you guys in 12 days.

    Dear Mark,

Good to hear from you. The ice went out at the end of April this year, which is pretty early. The walleye have already spawned, and the pike are spawning as we speak. The water levels are down about 3 feet. The good news is this kind of weather does not make a lot of black fly’s. It has been a beautiful spring. We look forward to seeing you . Bert
